My response to the article by Ranjini Haridas

This is my response to this article by Renjini Haridas

രഞ്ജിനി ഹരിദാസിന് ഒരു തുറന്ന കത്ത്
Ranjini has been anchoring this show for the past 5 years. That means she has been in Kerala AT LEAST for these 5 years. Considering her job, that of an anchor in a reality show for Keralites, in a purely Malayalam channel, she should have the professionalism to use proper Malayalam words with the correct pronunciation and diction. If she had done that, THAT would've shown her professionalism and her dedication for the job she does.

If she was a professional, she would've took the comments made by Jagathy Sreekumar in the right sense and worked on her Malayalam. And if she is a confident person who is fully aware of others' and her rights (as she mentions in her article), then where is the need for her article in her first place? She is aware of Jagathy's rights, she's aware of her rights. Then why does she have to elaborate on her stance through that article?

The very fact that Ranjini addresses Jagathy as Mr. Moon (come on, who is she trying to fool?) shows that she is immature to handle such a situation. Jagathy wouldn't have cared less if she has named him. If she was so secure about her professionalism, her self-confidence and thick rhino skin, then she could've just narrated the incident frankly and made her stance clear. She needn't have sent hidden attacks at Jagathy using phrases like "I was the victim of an individual who took advantage of his right to freedom of speech to publicly embarrass and ridicule me", "some slanderous statements made by a man pining for attention", "only thing achieved was some cheap publicity and the loss of respect".

Ranjini, go through the social networking sites and read through the comments for this incident. See what people think of it. The show is not a success because of your anchoring and your impeccable language. It is a success only because Keralites love music. And they don't have a better option available now. Wait until something better comes up. Then, you can see how even your boldness, rhino thick hide and freedom of expression can't save the show and Asianet.

  1. So you mean to say that it was right of Jagathy to use such an occassion to ridicule her ??! What he said seems ok for everyone, but when ranjini retaliated it is not right anymore ?! What the heck ?! And stop talking about the love for malayalam... Why did the viewers want her back in the show when they changed her in season 2 and brought in ramya, if they dont like her malayalam ?! Jealousy at its peak! Pah! Humbug!

  2. Every one has the right to freedom of speech!
If Mr.Jagathy can indirectly talk about it without naming the person, why can't Ranjini reply back in the same manner! I personally didn't like the way she was insulted, that is her style of presentation, no one has the right to ask her improve it and I am sure that Asianet treats her as an asset to the show or else she wouldn't be still anchoring the show!

  3. Ranjini is a good anchor. No doubt about that. The energy she transmits is worth mentioning. And Ramya was not such an anchor. And about the audience wanting her back, that's what Asianet said in public - we never know the behind the scenes story.

But Ranjini could improve her Malayalam. At least for the sake of the job that she's doing in the Malayalam program. We don't have any qualms about she talking in English, or Manglish in the songs which aired English Songs in Rosebowl Channel.

Also, Jagathy mentioned about anchors in general. Not specifically about Ranjini. He also said that it is his opinion, and this is what he feels.

Ranjini has every right to explain her stand. But in her article, she has just played the damsel-in-distress where she complains about what Jagathy said, how she was ridiculed and made fun off. She also mentions how she kept her cool and didn't retaliate on stage - because she is a professional.

But she never touches the part about her language. She is never explaining her stand on that. Why? If she was a mature person, and a professional, she should have stuck to that instead of playing the I-was-humilited-but-I-kept-my-cool part.

  4. I totally disagree with ur views...she is an anchor. Whatever she tells is all scripted..its not that she made it all by herself. I think she is only Gurl down south who has proper sense how to behave, how to be professional.. I think whatever Jagathy wanted to say that way he chose was not right. Now when she reacted everyone is against her. She could have chose to speak on the stage and also asked him why ur name is involved in a rape case but she didnt..this shows how profession she is. ITs very easy to criticize anyone but take guts to stand still and hear all those in front of so many people

  5. hehehe I was seeing the way Mallu guys take it upon themselves to protect Malayalam..second all the graciousness u have afforded Ranjini in this article cannot conceal the chauvinism that lies behind ur views...Jagathy is a magnificent artiste but to insult someone in jest and pass it off as comedy still just tantamounts to vehemence..Ranjini is the more exciting of the anchors our Malayali channels offer...she has been impeccable in the way she carries out her job and could have reacted very differently to his insult..which she did not and accorded Jagathy a respect which he may not have entirely deserved... A lesser professional may have expressed publicly that she needs no advice from a rapist...

Credit where its due and for chrissakes nobody sees the need for mallu men to be soo insecure about a more outgoing woman..its been there over generations glossing it over by sunding eduated is not going to do shit
